This glove pattern was inspired by the historical patterns for Sanquhar-style gloves from the UK, a popular design in the 19th century. Their distinctive features are the fine block motif that is repeated throughout the glove, initials section on the inside of the cuff, gussets between the fingers, and 2 colour ribbing.

Named after the town of Sanquhar in the Dumfries and Galloway region of southwestern Scotland, the traditional patterned gloves are still made and worn today. This part of Britain has been associated with excellence in glove knitting for hundreds of years.

Pinwheel Gloves are a variation of the celebrated Sanquhar gloves. Traditional pattern blocks had diamond variations or and allover grid, and this modern interpretation uses a pinwheel stitch pattern.

Gauge is fine:
     11 sts / 12 rounds = 1" in colour pattern after blocking.
Suggested needle size: 2.25 mm / 1 US
Yarn Requirements:
    1 50 gr of Shetland yarn or fine fingering in a Dark shade
    1 50 gr of Shetland yarn or fine fingering in a Light shade

Special features include:

• Detailed instructions sized for Ladies medium, large, and Mens medium
• Charts for initials are also included for personalizing the gloves
• Gussets between the fingers for better fit
• Fingertips can be optionally lengthened

A detail of the cuff section knit in 2-colour corrugated rib, and above the cuff 2-colour checkerboard patterning with initials. You also have the option of knitting in the date - charts are included of the alphabet and years.

The fingers are knit ending with 2-colour checkerboard patterning, and can be optionally lengthened by adding extra rows in the checkerboard pattern, as was done in this sample for the middle finger.

Though only a small portion can be seen, there are small gusset sections worked between the fingers for a better fitting glove that also allows movement.
