Gemini Capelets
from Fiddlesticks Knitting

The Gemini Capelets are not strictly twins, although they have certain aspects in common and both designs are included in one pattern. What they truly share is a sense of whimsical and frivolous fun!

Whimsical Capelet above, features an openwork mesh and pretty ruffle. I-cord ties and knitted balls are strung through the top edge of the mesh to tie the capelet on.

Frivolous Capelet below, is knit with a special cobweb stitch to create the openwork lace. Ribbing finishes the top and I-cords with charming tassels tie the capelet on.

Two sizes are given for each capelet, but they are easily adjustable by loosening or tightening the ties at the top.

Design Details

NOTE: Fiddlesticks Knitting Patterns use charts.
There are detailed instructions on the garment construction, how to work the charts and special stitches, but the stitch pattern designs are all charted.

Yarn requirements:
Fingering-weight yarn. Our samples knit with a 50% wool, 30% silk, 20% nylon blend,
each capelet approx. 125 g / 400 m

Recommended needle size:
4.5 mm (US 7) 24-inch circular needles; 4 mm (US 6) 24-inch circular needles; 3.5 mm (US 4) double-pointed needles or sizes to obtain gauge.

For Frivolous Capelet only: All of the above plus 6.5 mm (US 10.5) 24-inch circular needles (or two needles held together to allow for a looser cast on).

Recommended for Advanced Beginner or Intermediate knitters.
