The lovely Snowflake Stole is a gentle paradox—these snowflakes keep us warm with a drift of snowy (and showy!) lace around our shoulders.
The stole is worked in stocking stitch by casting on provisionally at one end, then knitting the body to the other end. A lacy garter stitch edging is knitted sideways to the body and attached to the live stitches at each end. There is lace shaping on one side throughout the body of the stole, but the edging features lace shaping on both sides.

The main stole section has lace worked on the front side only, and the Alpine lace edging has lace worked on both sides of the work.

Finished size:
Approximately 22.5 inches wide and 76 inches long after blocking – stole can easily be made longer or shorter
Needles:
3.5 mm (US 4) straight or circular needles (stole body)
3 mm (US 3) circular needles OR one 3 mm (US 2 or 3) straight needle and one 3 mm (US 3) double-pointed needle (edging)
or sizes needed to obtain gauge
