Wavy Scarves
from Fiddlesticks Knitting

The Wavy Lace Scarves explore what happens to the edges of knitting when yarnovers and decreases are offset. The Wavy Leaf Scarf (below right) expands and contracts, emphasized by a leaf motif which “grows” up the middle. The Wavy Bee Scarf (on left) employs a more subtle wave which moves from side-to-side in a sinuous fashion, with “bees” buzzing up the middle. Either one is fun to knit as you watch the stitches take on a life of their own!

Both scarves are worked by starting at one end and repeating the chart until desired length is achieved or yarn is used up. The scarves are suitable for Intermediate knitters, but the Wavy Bee Scarf is a bit more challenging due to the interesting Bee lace motif. Detailed explanation of how to work the motif is included.

Gauge: Not crucial, however, size of scarf will vary depending on tension and blocking, and if you are a loose knitter, you may need more yarn.

Yarn Requirements:
2 balls of Fiddlesticks Knitting Silk Sensation per scarf,
100% silk, each ball 50 gr/115 metres, 125 yds(approximately), an elegant 100% raw silk yarn.

Other supplies:
Stitch markers

Finished Size:
Can vary, but approximately 7.5 inches wide x 46 inches long after blocking. A longer scarf can easily be worked, but more yarn will be required.

Recommended for Intermediate to Advanced knitters.

Recommended needle sizes:
3.5 mm (US 4) needles
(needles with pointy tips such as Addi lace knitting needles are recommended for the Wavy Bee Scarf as it makes it easier to perform actions such as "purl 2 together through the back loops")

These fabulous new circular needles from Addi Turbo - the long respected name in well-crafted knitting needles - offer you enhanced features for both lace and sock knitting. They have sharp tips making it easier to work fine stitches; the needles are coated to give just the right amount of 'stick' so you have better control of lace stitches; and they have smooth joins between the needles and cord.

When selecting a needle size note that while the pattern has a suggested size (see above for Recommended needle size), you may need to use a different needle size in order to get gauge. If your experience with other Fiddlesticks patterns is that you have to go up or down a needle size to match gauge, then select the appropriate size.
